Today, we trade the buzz of Marrakech for the cool, invigorating air of the High Atlas Mountains. After breakfast, we’ll journey south on a scenic 1.5-hour drive to Imlil, a peaceful village cradled by dramatic peaks and terraced valleys. Here, you'll be welcomed by Lahcen, our passionate and knowledgeable local mountain guide whose roots run deep in these mountains. More than a guide, Lahcen is a storyteller—his insight will open a window into the rich traditions and way of life of the local Berber communities.
Your gentle 1-hour hike is more than a walk—it’s a cultural immersion. You’ll pass through charming Berber hamlets, catch glimpses of rural life, and walk past stone-built houses, almond groves, and narrow mule trails etched into the hillsides. Along the way, Lahcen will introduce you to villagers, point out native herbs, and share stories that bring the landscape to life.
The hike culminates at a traditional Berber home, where you’ll be welcomed with a freshly prepared mint and herbal tea, served in a warm, ceremonial style. More than just a beverage, this tea is a cultural symbol—Lahcen will explain its deep roots in Moroccan hospitality and the use of local herbs not only for flavor, but for healing and community bonding. This moment is intimate, meaningful, and utterly Moroccan.
After this enriching pause, you'll be served a home-cooked, 3-course lunch featuring seasonal, mountain-grown ingredients. A highlight is the lovingly prepared vegetarian couscous, rich in texture and flavor—a true taste of Atlas mountain cuisine.
In the late afternoon, we make our way back to Marrakech. Guests will be dropped off at their hotel or riad, carrying with them a deeper understanding of the mountains, the people, and the timeless rhythms of Berber life.
